Welcome to OUR BLOG
Thanksgiving is celebrated every year in the United States, Canada and Brazil on different dates, in Canada is on the second Monday of October, and in the United States and Brazil is the fourth Thursday of November.
This important festivity in the United States commemorates the food that the European settlers shared with the Wampanoag Indians in 1621 to celebrate the good harvest of autumn and to thank them for teaching them the techniques of farming and hunting. But the official birth of Thanksgiving is due to the former president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln, who in October of 1863 in the middle of the Civil War, ordered to celebrate Thanksgiving to all citizens.
Today, Thanksgiving is the most celebrated festivity in the United States, even more than Christmas, because despite the fact that Thanksgiving had a religious origin, nowadays people of all religions celebrate it, as well as authorities and leaders of the American society. This day the families gather around the table to thank for the blessings of the year and enjoy a delicious feast consisting mainly of of baked turkey, applesauce, pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce among other dishes. It is the ideal time to share with your loved ones while enjoying the most delicious dinner of the year. You should know that Thanksgiving day all stores and shops are closed but the next day is the traditional Black Friday, the ideal day for shopping since you will the lowest price of the season everywhere and starts the first day of Christmas shopping.
At Solaris Resorts in Cancun and Los Cabos we also celebrated Thanksgiving Day with a variety of fun activities during the day and night. We started with the passage of Pancho and our Thanksgiving turkey by the pool and they also visited our Members and Guests at Café Solaris and Rosmarinus taking pictures with adults and children, who were enjoying a delicious breakfast. Then a special thanksgiving puzzle and a fun Turkey Dance and in the afternoon, kids and adults could prove their skills in the "Chase the turkey" contest.
After that, the turkey and his friends invited us to a race in which they participated, to know who was the fastest of all. For this, they asked everyone to take a water ballon and throw it, to make the race more fun and "refreshing".
At the Mini Club, children enjoyed doing crafts and games such as "Put the tail on the turkey". In the afternoon they enjoyed a slumber party where they had face painting and a movie show with dinner included.
In GR Solaris Cancun we had the traditional petting zoo in the lobby with turkeys, rabbits, chickens and other animals that the little ones love. In addition, many fun activities during the day such as a harvest in the garden, water balloons war, and many crafts for the little ones such as the printing of their own shirts with the figure of a turkey (hand painted colors).

Curious facts: the first celebration of Thanksgiving of the United States lasted 3 days, and did not have any of the foods with which it is currently celebrated. Each year the President of the United States forgives a turkey to be brought to the table, ensuring that this animal lives on a farm for the rest of his life, the average weight of the turkeys consumed is 15 pounds. Also, a parade is held to commemorate the day, but the curious thing about it is that it is organized by a departmental store - and it is the largest in the United States, celebrated in New York City.
