Actions to take care of the environment in Quintana Roo

Upon September 4th The Ecology and Environment agency,presented a new Law on prevention and management of solid waste to protect the environment from the garbage that is generated every day in Quintana Roo.

This new law has as main axis the strengthening of recycling, prohibition of the use of plastic bags, straws and styrofoam

"Quintana Roo is a young state, it is necessary to promote the culture of conservation TODAY", especially considering the future impact towards the destination. Every little help in this area is needed to the conservation of our main tourist destination in the country; Alfredo Arellano Guillermo - Secretary of Ecology and Environment emphasized the need to act on a personal level, as the changes we make locally, will impact globally on the environment.

This change in the law and actions on a personal level can achieve great positive changes in the amount of garbage generated at the destination, but it is also our responsibility as Hotel industry to advise our guests on the use of such materials as disposable plastic containers, straws and styrofoam.

It is important to mention that once the Law on prevention and management of solid waste is approved, the change will be gradual, so we invite you to be part of this change with the "Drink without a straw" program that is already carried out at Royal Solaris Cancún and GR Caribe by Solaris resorts.
