The Bisbee Tournaments have been held in Los Cabos for more than 30 years. These tournaments are presented throughout the year in the Baja California coasts, with different categories, times, rules, etc. In this year, in October, the Bisbee's Black & Blue tournament was held, where a historical record was reached regarding the prize for the first place
This traditional tournament of Los Cabos is considered the most important and biggest fishing sporting event in the world, this time brought together 114 teams representing different countries, and a prize of more than 4 million dollars is distributed to those who manage to capture the biggest blue or black marlin.
October 23-27 was the XXXVIII edition of the "Bisbee's Black & Blue Tournament" where different stages and categories were held for the tournament.
On this occasion, between the two tournaments, a tribute was paid to Robert J. Bisbee, who was the founder of the Bisbee's Tournament which began in 1982, when Robert and five of his friends made their own fishing tournament, where they participated, and They kept doing it for years. Until they had the first Black & Blue Marlin tournament with only 6 teams, where they competed for a prize of $ 10,000 USD.
Robert J. Bisbee, died at 85 years of age (March 6, 1933 - June 14, 2018), and on October 22 was honored with a tribute. Which included a ceremony in the Cabo San Lucas bay, where his family spread his ashes in the sea, since it was a request made by the founder of the Bisbee's tournaments, due to his great relationship with the port of Cabo San Lucas, which he considered his second home.
The winner of this great tournament where professional fishermen from all over the world joined the competition was:, Chinito Bonito, the now millionaire champion of Bisbee's 2018 With a prize pot that exceeded 3 million dollars, The winner received the second largest prize in the history of the tournament held in Los Cabos, by Catching the Black Marlin of greater size and weight (150lbs) in the competition and crowned in the Bisbee's Offshore Fishing Tournaments. He also placed second in the history of the tournament with the millionaire prize of the edition concluded last Saturday confirming that Los Cabos, is the international headquarters of sports fishing.
