In the upcoming winter season, American Airlines is preparing an unprecedented expansion in its flight schedule to Cancun, Mexico. This expansion is the biggest one yet, with more flights available. There will be up to 40 flights per day on busy days, going to 18 different places in the US.
The new schedule will include flights from cities such as Pittsburgh, Nashville, and Cincinnati. This demonstrates a dedication to offering various routes and connecting to new destinations. In addition, they have added additional frequencies from Miami and Charlotte, offering greater flexibility to travelers.
On November 5, American Airlines will increase its flights from Austin, Texas, from one to two per day. This decision reflects the growing demand and popularity of Cancun as a tourist destination.
José María Giraldo, American's general manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, expressed his enthusiasm for this expansion, stating: “Cancun continues to be one of our most popular international destinations and as a result we have added even more service this year, offering our clients a network without equal in Mexico”. He said Cancun will be their biggest winter destination. They are proud of this. Cancun will have more flights than any other city outside the US.
But the expansion does not stop in Cancun. American will also expand its presence in Mexico during the upcoming general winter season. In an exciting announcement, the airline revealed that it will open a new destination on February 15, 2024, connecting Tijuana International Airport with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
This new service will operate daily in an Embraer 175 aircraft, with capacity for 78 passengers. American Airlines has introduced a new route in Mexico. This move allows the airline to have a stronger presence in the country. Additionally, it provides opportunities for both business and leisure travelers to explore and connect with different regions.
"We are excited to become the only airline connecting Tijuana and the United States, and to do so from our hub in Phoenix, where our customers will have access to approximately 250 daily flights to 100 destinations in the winter," said José A. Freig, Vice President of Operations and Commercial for Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. "Tijuana will become American's 26th destination in the country, highlighting our commitment of over 80 years to Mexico, with our local team of over 1,200 people and our customers," Freig added.
